About
The Resting Garden, founded in 2020, is a curated solution to the Black Maternal and Infant Health Crisis. We support by encouraging self-advocacy, providing education, and championing change in the birth and reproductive justice arena.
Mission Statement
The Resting Garden assists Black, Brown, and Indigenous birthing individuals, parents, and families by providing holistic perinatal education so that they can thrive at any stage of their perinatal and postpartum journey.
Vision Statement
Our vision is that all Black, Brown, and Indigenous birthing families, no matter their socioeconomic status, have the support needed to navigate any outcome they face throughout their reproductive journey and beyond.
Our Why
Black Maternal & Infant Mortality is a public health emergency
Your socioeconomic status should not determine the outcome of your birth
Black mothers and babies deserve to make it home after a birth
Black mothers and babies deserve to thrive
All Black, Brown, and Indigenous birthing families deserve a space where they can come to with questions and to find resources
Resources and education should not be inaccessible
ALL birthing individuals, parents and families should have access to doula service regardless of race, ability to pay, or gender identity
Doula service is not a luxury. Every pregnant person deserves a doula
All parents deserve to be seen and heard
